for Day 4 of #21daysofbrave.
@meredithcbullock’s question for today was “What is it you need in order to feel brave and confident in calling yourself an artist?” First, I do not really feel that I can call myself an artist. Not yet, anyway. I can call myself an explorer, an experimenter, a learner ... but not an artist. I had serious doubts about doing this challenge, but then, in thinking about it, if I call myself an explorer, and experimenter and a learner, then why not? Because isn’t that what this challenge is all about? In order to really feel like an artist, I need to:
...take more classes
...try ALL the things
...not just step - LEAP - out of my box(es)
...continue to connect with others on IG ...not be shy about “following” people who already have a huge following, thinking I am not worthy of even that!
...get over my fear of reaching out to/getting together with other local artists (there goes my old self-doubt again - as in, why would they want to hang out with me...they’re clearly light years ahead of me!) (Hmm. Do I feel the next round of #MyCreativePinkieSwear
coming on?- I think this might be the challenge I assign to myself!)
Oh, wait. I know! Maybe I should take lessons from the main character in “Drawing Lessons from a Bear” by David McPhail. If you haven’t read it already, you should! It is awesome!
4x4 on mixed media paper; acrylic, pencil, markers, and a stamp. #dailybraverypaintings
