Where was Shulam, home of the Shulammite? Does Shulam still exist? Who were the other remarkable women from Shulam? There are many theories about the beautiful maiden in the Song of Solomon. We'll sort through them and try to answer the questions above in our newest article on www.biblereadingarcheology.com

Pyrite in nature and an ancient monite with cristflyzed pyrite shell

The mineral pyrite, or iron pyrite, also known as fool's gold, is an iron sulfide with the chemical formula FeS2. Pyrite is considered the most common of the sulfide minerals.
Pyrite's metallic luster and pale brass-yellow hue give it a superficial resemblance to gold, hence the well-known nickname of fool's gold. The color has also led to the nicknames brass, brazzle, and Brazil, primarily used to refer to pyrite found in coal

"Niech nas kołysze tamta łódź,  O czterech twarzach jeden Bóg  I tamta miłość, której ślad  Na zawsze już zostanie w nas" 🌌 - "Stara baśń" - Beata Kozidrak Tegoroczny wypad do Biskupina uważam za udany. W niecałe 2 godziny obeszliśmy prawie wszystko, pooddychaliśmy świeżym powietrzem i atmosferą festynu archeologicznego. Wysłałam jej to zdjęcie z takim komentarzem 😆 #Biskupin #Biskupin2017 #archeologia #archeology #kujawskopomorskie #lubietubyc #vikingboat #oldboat #rodzinnawycieczka #zwiedzaniezdzieckiem

Silver Posy Ring, 16th/17th century.
This looked like a rather battered plain silver ring when I spotted it lying on top of the Thames foreshore mud a few years ago. It was black with tarnish, but as I cleaned it up I noticed an inscription on the inside that read I LIVE IN HOPE and realised it was a posy ring. A posy ring is one that is inscribed with a short, sentimental expression, or ‘posy’, derived from the Middle English word for poetry. Most often about love, friendship and faithfulness, rings of this type were often used as engagement and wedding rings. Though some Classical examples are known, posy rings experienced a surge in popularity in Medieval England, making apropos love tokens in the age of chivalry. The dating of posy rings is largely based on the style of script and the placement of the inscription, since most lack any other form of ornamentation. The inscriptions on posy rings of the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries are oftentimes in French, the language of love, and found on the exterior of the loop, while examples from the seventeenth century forward typically bear English inscriptions on the interior of the band. The rarest are posy rings with ornamented exteriors, examples of which are often enamelled and with repeating floral and foliate decoration or, rarer still, with gemstones. Though many of the same poems appear on various examples, others are unique and were composed specially by the patron for their partner. By the late eighteenth century the posy ring fell out of fashion. Posy rings aren't uncommon foreshore finds, neither are modern wedding bands, which suggests passionate reactions to heartbreak have changed little over the centuries.
As this find is made of a precious metal and over 300 years old it was reported as Treasure and returned to me. #beachcombingfinds #treasure #mudlark #medieval #mudlarking #medievaltimes #metaldetecting #museumoflondon #thamesmudlark #thamesfestival #thamesmudlarking #thamesforeshore #thames #london #londonmudlark #londonmudlarks #lovetokens #ring #posyring #tudor #jewelry #history #archeology

🇬🇧 Temple of Hercules Olivarius, Forum Boarium, Rome.
The Temple of Hercules Olivarius or Hercules Victor is the oldest almost entirely marble building that is preserved in Rome. It is a peripterous round temple of 20 corinthian columns, resting on Grotta Oscura foundations. The building is dedicated to Hercules Olivarius (as written on the inscription belonging to the base of the worship statue, carved by Scopas Minor) patron of the guild of the olearii, and was founded by Marcus Octavius Heriment, a wealthy oil trader, at the end of the 2nd century B.C.
The architect who built the structure is perhaps to be identified in Hermodoros of Salamina.
The Temple, after the flood in the 15 AD, was largely restored in the Tiberian age.

Camino Real Tierra Adentro.
