Autumn is... what for you? What's the #1
thing you love? Today is officially the first day of the season! 🍁🍂🍁 For me, it's these frosty misty mornings like this in the Shire, so brilliantly captured by @bobbimac, when the golden leaves are abound and the crisp air puts that extra bounce into your step to go exploring! Soon it will be Bonfire Night! Treacle Toffee! Hot potatoes! Halloween! New series of Stranger Things!
Talking of exploring, I took a small trip to Knutsford in Cheshire today (see my two little stories) to Tabley House. I actually hoped to do a full tour, but they don't allow photography inside. Boo! Thankfully most stately homes in Britain allow photography these days (without flash) and if done properly, it can really help the marketing of the place. Still, it's well worth a visit! The Old Hall used to sit on an island and was built c.1380, replacing an earlier manor house nearby. In fact, the chapel on my video was moved brick by brick in the 1920s as it was close to sinking into the ground! Good to see it saved. It was also used for the 1st episode of Season 3 of Peaky Blinders when Thomas Shelby and Grace get married. So take a peek and then head into the house - it has a great Turner artwork on display and some lush rooms. And yes, fabulous scones surrounded by an amazing wood carved fireplace from 1619! How many other coffee shops or tea rooms feature such a wonder!
Now as for the exact location of this photograph, @bobbimac is often in the north of England - especially the @peak.district... but this photograph wonderfully represents the beauty of Britain in the Autumn... the real life Shire that Tolkien experienced! 🇬🇧 Want your Photos of Britain to be featured?
