The morning that seems to be one of the most important in Hollywood is coming tomorrow morning, actually it is the most important least important because do the Oscars really matter? That's a whole different discussion, but I enjoy them. I like watching them and predicting them, so here are my predictions for the 2017 Academy Awards.
First off, I think the Academy will try to be ballsy (a little bit) in the nominations. After two years of really boring predictable nominations, this might be more interesting. So I do think we will see some Deadpool love, my guesses are in Best Picture, Best Actor, and Best Adapted Screenplay. 3 nods sounds like a huge win. I don't think it deserves Best Picture but the other two very much so.
Casey Affleck and Viola Davis are pretty much locks for there categories, which seems deservedly so. I plan on seeing Manchester by the Sea on Thursday, but that probably won't work out. Fences came and left at my theater. Davis is a favorite of mine and needs a win, she really got knocked off for Doubt.
Elle has gathered a lot of attention with Best Actress (possible win) and Best Foreign Film nominations I bet.
Now Best Actress is a tough race, there are 3 actresses that I would be happy if they got it. Annette Benning and Amy Adams don't have an Oscars, and need one real bad (deservedly so). Adams is subtle yet sophisticated while 20th Century Women looks to have quirky yet complicated turn from Benning. Isabelle Huppert (Elle) could win and I'd be happy.
I really badly want Ben Foster to be nominated if not win for Hell or High Water, I loved him and thought he was excellent. Best part of the movie for me.
We will wrap it up with La La Land, which will probably be nominated like a lot. Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Original Screenplay, Best Score, Best Song, Best Costume Design, etc. Haven't seen, want to though. Soon!
What are your predications? Stay tune for a reaction tomorrow!
