Perfection, one simple word that holds so much power over how we perceive others and how we perceive ourselves. What is perfection? The definition of perfection, according to Merriam-Webster, is: "the condition or state of being as free as possible from all flaws or defects". So, how can we achieve perfection? Simple, we can’t. No one will ever achieve true "perfection" as we are all different. What we must do is work toward our own personal perfection. We also need to not allow disappointment in the "imperfection" to deter us from our goal. Be happy that you tried and that you put forth the effort, because the outcome is so much more satisfying than whether or not you actually achieved perfection. What stands in our way, is the lack of conviction that what we’ve done is done to the best of our abilities, mainly because we strive to be as perfect as the person next to us. Keep in mind that the person next to us isn’t perfect either, you have only perceived them as perfect as they have obtained something you have not. The next time that you set your mind to accomplish a goal, remember, it isn’t important if you are perfect, it is more important that you strive for your own perfection.
