THIS IS IT! So I have finally given in to the peer pressure of almost everybody I know! telling me on almost every social media platform! that this burger from the guys down at @thirdwavecafe is something I NEED to get my mouth around. So are you happy now? Cos I sure wasn't! 😕
This is the "Mac Bomb Burger" the special burger of the month down at @thirdwavecafe and it's packing a lot more under the surface than you could possibly tell, okay so this is how they build this beast: They take a 200g beef patty chuck it down on the grill, mold it into a bowl shape, throw in the Mac and cheese, wrap it all up in some bacon strips, place the patty on a brioche bun layered with sliced pickles and tomatoes and cover it all in cheese and even more bacon! Oh and they also top it all off with 4x onion rings 😨.
🍔=5/10 I gotta say, the truly intense level of media attention @thirdwavecafe
has been getting recently made me get extremely excited to try out this famous #macbomb
burger, you could say my expectations were pretty damn high. It's a shame however that it really could not live up to them.
So the burger, let's break it down, the beef was too prominent and not flavourful enough to have the presence it had, I understand they needed to use big patties to hold in the Mac and cheese, it just wasn't worth it in my opinion. Speaking of the Mac and cheese, the pasta tasted quite basic but the flavour of the cheese was strong, thick and delicious which helped this burger quite a bit. The bacon was great I'm glad they put a lot of it because I couldn't get enough! And lastly the pickles, simply put, this burger had way too much pickle presence, bringing too much of a tang to every bite. 😕
💰- $24 It's a tough one, not really worth it in my opinion, but if you're someone who is after a bit of theatrics, you'll enjoy it, or at least take a picture. 📷
I have to commend @thirdwavecafe however for going through all the effort of creating something different and unique that just can't be found on the market, and bringing the exact burger I saw on my Facebook feed to my table, that takes skill.
